Oliver K. Maull was born on July 19, 1963 in Beebe Hospital to Robert B. Maull Sr. and the late Pearl J. Maull and was a life resident of Lewes, Delaware. He graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1981 where he played sports and participated in band and chorus. His favorite activities were football and baseball. Immediately on graduating from high school, “Obby” was signed by the Baltimore Orioles. After playing in the minor league for a few years, he returned home to play football at Delaware State College and was a member of their 1985 Championship team.
Although football and baseball were his favorite sports, he could also be found at the local harness and racetrack utilizing his handicapping skills with his partner and Road Dog, his father. He lived with and cared for his father for many years at their family home in Lewes. Obby had a terrific sense of humor and everyone who met him enjoyed talking with him as well as grubbing down on the fried chicken that he would serve you hot, right out of the pan!!!!
Oliver held various culinary positions in the resort because of his love of cooking, most recently at Bob Evans in Rehoboth Beach.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Percy and Otelia Maull (Lewes), maternal grandparents Isaac and Viola Jarman (Wilmington) and maternal uncles, Issac Jarman, Jr. (Lakewood, NJ) and Oliver Jarman (Wilmington). Oliver is now resting with his mother Pearl, and others in the family who went on to glory before him.
Obby will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish many memories his father, Robert B. Maull, Sr., from whom he received his skill and love of baseball, sister Tamara Z. Maull of Odenton, MD and Robert B. Maull, Jr. of Lewes. One uncle, James Maull (Alva) of Miami, FL, two aunts, Patsy Trice (Robert) of San Diego, CA and Godmother, Otelia Oliver(John) of Seaford, DE. He also leaves a host of cousins, extended family members and many friends…too many to name.
Oliver lives, Oliver lives today. He walks with me and he talks with me as we travel on our way.
You ask me how I know he lives. He lives within my heart. - Dad
