Surrounded by family and friends, on the evening of June 5, 2016, at 4:pm , Willie James Edwards of Milton, De departed this life quietly and peacefully following a prolonged illness. Willie James was born in Lovett, Fl on Oct 19, 1943 as the 8th child and the youngest son of the late Homer & Eliza Watkins Edwards He met and married the love of his life, Bernice Mitchell in 1967. God gave them the pleasure of celebrating 49 years of marriage on May 11, 2016. This union was blessed with two children Willie J. Jr., & Christa Edwards. Willie graduated from Washington Street High School in Quitman, Ga in 1962. Willie then enlisted in the army and served his country during the Viet Nam War from 1965-67. After the military, Willie moved to Lewes, De where he was employed at Fish Products Co. Willie worked at Perdue Farms for fifteen years and then took a custodial position with Cape Henlopen School Dist, retiring in 2006. At an early age, Willie joined the Mt Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Quitman, Ga and later be came a member of Friendship Baptist in Lewes, De. Willie James was preceded in death by his father and mother, Homer & Eliza Edwards. 3 Sis: Homer Lee Adams, Mae Edna Whitfield, and TeCola Mc Clain. 1 Bro: Tommy Edwards, 5 Bro-in-law:Charlie Bembry, Thomas Mc Clain, Eddie Turner, Ernest Bass and Thomas Mitchell. 1 Sis-in-law: Charlie Mae Sherman, 3 Nephews: Eddie Turner, Jr., Johnny Edwards, and Ronald (Manny) Bull. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife of 49 years  Bernice Mitchell Edwards

1 Son: Willie James Jr. & Tamela Edwards-Milton /  2 Daughters: Christa Edwards & Special friend Reginald Sample-Millsboro / Stacey Gillis -Millsboro / 2 G Daughters: Courtney & Rayonna /  2 Bros: Rev. George H. & Ardeth Edwards-Milton / Billy & Geneva Edwards -Lewes / 2 Sis: Mary Turner -Milton / Geneva Bembry -Abbeyville, La / 1 Bro in-law: Rev. Marion & Velvie Mitchell - Columbia, Mo / 2 Sis in-law: Jean Bass -Trenton, Nj / Hattie & Berry Bull - Milton / 1 God daughter: Brenda Mason - Milton / a special cousin-in-law: Willie Lee Seay -Quitman, Ga / Willie's church family a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
